This laptop has a lot of features. You can get it with a 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake H-series processor and an NVIDIA RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU.
You can choose between 144Hz, 300Hz, and a 60Hz 4K OLED display. You can choose a 60Hz panel for deeper colours, but if you’re all about gaming, a quicker refresh rate is preferred.
The Alienware m15 R3 review machine includes with Intel Core i7-10750H processor, RTX 2070 SUPER GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD, and a 300Hz refresh rate screen. This one lacks Tobii eye-tracking technology. If you want that, you’ll need to get the 4K OLED model.
So, in terms of design, nothing has changed from last year’s model. The M15 R2 had a fantastic design, so it seems logical that Dell has decided against a total design redesign this time around.
It keeps a basic design, but there are enough lighting flashes to give it a gaming laptop vibe. There are two colorways available: white Lunar White and off-black Dark Side of the Moon. The latter is our review unit.
Traditionally, having a black chassis meant having to deal with a lot of fingerprint smudges. The exterior, on the other hand, has a high-endurance clear coat finish to help decrease smudge attraction. You do get some from time to time, but it is a small annoyance.
Sticking with the chassis, it’s not composed of metal; rather, the keyboard and lid are made of glossy plastic. The lid has a small LED-lit Alienware logo and a “15” marking in the bottom right corner. The rear section, which holds an air vent and a few ports, is also constructed of black matte plastic.
